Uitgever Red Tape Productions presenteert de eerste uitgave van een luxe naslagwerk waarin meer dan 400 microfoons zijn opgenomen. Velen speelden een belangrijke rol in de twintigste eeuw. Niet alleen radio en TV microfoons, maar ook exemplaren die voor een specifiek doel werden vervaardigd; zoals voor de ruimtevaart, voor gebruik in volle, lawaaierige stadions of ingebouwd in een horloge voor spionage doeleinden.
Alle microfoons in het boek zijn afkomstig uit de unieke collectie van de auteur, Marco C. van der Hoeven. Het zijn vaak werkende exemplaren, in perfecte staat. Van het type dat door Albert Einstein werd gebruikt, de microfoon waar Fidel Castro bijna al zijn speeches in sprak, de aangepaste modellen voor de DDR top, tot aan de twee microfoons die altijd door Adolf Hitler werden ingezet – hij wilde er een bij zijn voet om met goed hoorbaar gestamp zijn woorden letterlijk kracht bij te zetten.
De samenstelling van het boek vergde ruim zes jaar. Naast gedetailleerde beschrijvingen van de microfoons zelf, bevat het boek schitterende persfoto’s, reclameposters, folders en vele anekdotes met verwijzingen naar de originele geluidsfragmenten. Deze fragmenten kunnen bij de toekomstige rondreizende tentoonstelling rondom het boek en de collectie ook daadwerkelijk worden beluisterd.

| The writing of the book took more than six years. In addition to detailed descriptions of the microphones themselves, the book contains beautiful press photographs, advertisements and posters, leaflets and many anecdotes, plus reference to the original sounds they captured. These sound bites will be available at the foreseen exhibition about the book and its collection.
